Adventures in Galveston with The Aubuchons

Day 11 ~  What an afternoon/evening we had .........
We had such an adventure Sunday in Galveston.  It all started when Joe took over the captain's chair with Barb as his co-pilot.

Thier first time in a Motorhome !

We started out crossing the beautiful Fred Hartman Suspension Bridge, Hwy 146, Baytown, Texas.

We saw many properties still damaged from Hurricane Ike, Sept. 2008; but Joe is sure he and Barb can fix this restuarant up by spring break this year.  The resturant has the best beach on Galveston Island because of the world's biggest shells.......

....but sincerely, the historical memorial to victims of the 1900 storm on Galveston Island they posed for is stunning; I think Gregory was just a baby then.....  Am I right Barb?  just kidding

Dan and Joe put on the wetsuits Barb kepts in her Ford Explorer and rode the surf.......
The dude on the wave is Joe.  Dan will be up for the next wave...

Dan and I are seriously looking at this Flagship Hotel as the next job for Builders, Inc. for 2011........

While Dan and Joe were busy in the surf, Barb and I went for a cruise on each of the two boats that were waiting for us in Lot A...  lol LOL lol

We were famished and gathered a few oysters and crabs for dinner.........

What a scrumptious meal and dessert to die for.........

~ best friends forever ~

"So Barb and Joe" ..... did we miss any details that you would like to share with our blog followers?
 B&C:  these are for you!

He was happy to see us when we returned to the motorhome.........

Houston with rain

Day 10 in Houston for a few days

Snickers searching out our next destination

Saturday night we hooked-up the RV in Baytown, Texas at our second KOA camp site.  We met up with The Aubuchon's at St. Bernadette for mass and met Barb's boss Father Bob.  We had a nice dinner at a cute Italian restaurant, Angelo's and then went back to their home to catch up more.  We also were joined by Lidia (Frank was in Russia for work) who were also in the Young Married in Tyler.  Lidia is running the Houston Chevron Marathon today!  We also talked to cousin Toni and are looking forward to our visit on Monday with the whole Burns Family in Sugar Land, Texas

Day 8 ~ 9 in Dallas on the road to Houston

We had fun driving around Tyler visiting our first apartment and workplaces.  We have posted a few pictures; 28+ years places have changed but the memories are still as strong and put a smile on your face.  We pulled out of Tyler after lunch and headed to Dallas where we meet The Johnson's for dinner and drinks.  We visited with Mark and George-Anna and it was like 28 years melted.  We laughed and recalled the fun times.  It was such a great !!

We are on our way to Houston to visit The Aubuchons and The Burns Families.

Sun on our faces ~ good friends to catch up with

Day 8 ~ Little Rock to Tyler ~ January 27, 2011

We left Little Rock, AR bright & early at the crack of noon and drove to Tyler, Texas to visit where we began our married life together.  Ahhh.......

We were able to stop for some Schlotzsky's sandwiches in Texarkana (our favorite fast food).  We were also lucky enough to schedule dinner with some old Texas friends from Quitman, Texas Troy & Debbie Robinson, who treated us to some good-olde-fashion TexMex which brought back more great memories of Tyler and the "young married group".

Touring Graceland ~ on the road to Little Road

Day 7 ~ Memphis to Little Rock ~ January 26, 2011

We had a great evening catching up on emails and listening to country music.  Yesterday I talked to my very best old friend Barb and we made plans to head to The Aubuchon's this weekend in Houston, Texas.  We hope to see Danny's cousin Toni also; need to get an email/call out to her and Mark.  Then somewhere to put our "toes in the water and ass in the sand" in Galveston... for you non country music fans, click here:( http://s0.ilike.com/play#Zac+Brown+Band:Toes:1855779:m19843119 )  We plan to break out "the cheap blender and Jesus sandals" for a few days.  We will be heading to Venice/Tampa by Feb. 14th to visit Dozer, Mom & Dad.  Father/Son weekend planned for Feb 16-18th in Tampa with the Garavaglia's Tommy and Mike!

Below are some pictures from today.  We were both surprise how much we enjoyed the Graceland tour.  The audio tour was very well done and the exhibits were so fun to see.  The airplane; "Lisa Marie" was pretty amazing (24 karat gold seat belts and sinks).  We have never seen so many stores in such a small area only selling things with "elvis" somewhere; pictures, his signature, initials, everything you could think of.

We had a quick lunch and headed out to Little Rock for a short overnight stay at this scenic downtown river RV park.

Hope you are all warm and safe, love you all!
P.S.  Britt says you should "post a comment" if you have questions/comments on how we are doing with the blog; any suggestions of places to see; etc.  Please feel free to send the link to anyone you don't see in our followers list.  :-)

Great time in Nashville ~ on the road to Graceland

Day 6 ~ Nashville to Memphis ~ January 25 2011

We had a great time in Nashville.  Toured the Country Music Hall of Fame and the famous Studio B where 100s of #1 hits were recorded including many by Elvis.

We couldn't get into The Grand Olde Opry; the area was still closed due to The Middle Tennesse Flood in May, 2010.  Maybe next time; maybe get tickets for a show or two.

Hall of Fame 1.23.11 @ night; beautiful building

The entrance

Elvis's piano in Studio B ~ my butt is where Elvis's was...LOL

We use the warmer weather (30s-40s) to get to know the RV more.  Dan has got everything working prefectly.  We love it!

Snick did well in the RV alone (3-5 hrs.); and loved the walks on the pet trail near the river bank in the RV park (which also flooded in May).
