Post 58 ~ Falling Up Tour ~ Vermont ~ Driving Trip

Vermont had beautiful mountains, spectacular fall colors and more rain ...

Vermont had alot of damage from Irene, on the driving tour today we saw many rivers with banks littered with debris.  We also saw many washed out roads and bridges.

The smallest state capital in the US ~ Montpelier, Vermont (in the rain)

Cool lumber company, location and name

Our favorite stop this trip !!!  Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream Factory Tour ~ we got a free sample of mint chocolate chuck; yummy

Can see why this one is in the Graveyard; yuck

The FLAVOR Graveyard behind the factory.

Beautiful !!!
The horses, the colors, the mountains with clouds

More clouds

and more !!

This was Dan's favorite part of the drive:  Smuggler's Notch

Glad we didn't have the RV for this drive !!!

I put my hand out the window to take this picture and I could touch the water, the road was so close to it!

Didn't see any yet . . . but we are still looking, check back for further updates on the Moose hunt.  (Melanie/Jim ~ not your moose)  hehehe

Covered bridge; didn't drive on it; only a walking bridge.

Guess what city we (Dan) found in Vermont?

Got to love those "Dans"  They really like their names

Post 57 ~ Falling Up Tour ~ Vermont ~ "the green mountain state"

A Ferry ride for Snickers and the RV ~ a first for them both!!!

Today we took another ferry ride to VT from NY and set up camp in South Hero.  Beautiful place, only 4 years old.  Nice water, Internet and we even got satellite!!!  It's the little things!

Snick is not sure of this water . . . he sees only water and was crying

I don't think this is wide or tall enough

still not liking this road trip; too much water

Can you say "white knuckle ride" ??

Good thing we stopped; we would've been with that fisherman

We felt weird on this ferry; like a giant!

O.K.  I've had enough of this water ride, when will we been done here?

.....finally, Snick was very happy to get off this ride!

We picked up this cool book for the Northern New England states.  It has tours listed with various stops.  We took the first one today.

These are cute castles; they are in side-yards of people's homes.  They were built in the early 1900's by caretakers of people's summer homes.  Here are just three that we found, they were so cute!

Can't believe what farmers have in Vermont, can you?

Not sure if this is his happy face?  What do you think Tabi?  Hana? Kevin?

Three pigs in a mud pile!  Doesn't get much better than this!

They were raising all the colors of salmon and trout; all you needed was a fishing pole  (hehehe)

Wonder if this guy is any relation to Beth?

1783 - it looks pretty good still!

St. Anne's Shrine in Isle La Motte where priests celebrated the state's first Roman Catholic mass on July 26, 1666

Whata a cute farmer's market; got some yummy veggies (and tomatoes for tomada samichs)

Post 56 ~ Falling Up Tour ~ Truck Show in Essex, VT

Can you believe we found a car show in the FIRST week of our trip?

There were hundreds of old trucks!!!

We took a ferry from NY to Vermont for the day:

Wheelchair and oxygen in tow ~ can't keep these truck lovers away

Dan's always need their names on stuff!!

1957 Sweet in red

Nannette this one is for you!!!!  Check out how he has the hood open, lol

cute

This was on the back of a Chev    of course

one in the whole show!!!  it was real sweet too!

If you would like to see another 155 pictures Dan took, lets make a date for dinner when we get home to Michigan in November  ;-)

Another beautiful RAINBOW !  Who loves these?  Kelly, Jena, Hana, Grandma??

The ferry ride back was much nicer; no rain.  The coast was beautiful, check out the next few pics.

One last stop before we got back to campsite:

Driving into the clouds again, it is so cool.
