Post 55 ~ Falling Up Tour ~ Lake Placid

Adirondacks and Lake Placid were beautiful.

We dried out from all that rain and spent the day in and around Lake Placid.  We had a great time and as usual ran out of time to see & do everything in one day.

Nice rustic site, but no cable, no internet, no satellite and low pressure rusty water :-(

Look Barb & Joe !!!   These were everywhere.

Still here after 31 years, this site was also used in the 1932 olympics.

I had to try it.

They only had the 1/2 mile course open.  Piece-a-cake....

That's Dan !!!  He is in the final turn of his Lake Placid BOBSHED Experience

And his time is:

And I gave him a GOLD metal for his ride on this fast track

This is where it all started...

We had to try the ski jump....

We had to practice at the pool first. (see Dan on the right just about to land his first practice jump; I'm on the left on the small jump waiting for him to swim to side.)

Pam tried the short ramp but I had to give the long ramp a shot.

Pam got some air.

I was more interested in doing some tricks.

Pam placed first for putting up with a lot of BS.

While I wanted to put my training the test on the Ski Jump.

Beautiful country from the top of the world.

Unfortunately, the Ski Jump was closed to weekend warriors today.

Since its the thought that counts, I finished 1st place in my dreams.

Taking the chair-lift up White Face mountain for some slalom racing.

Thinking what might have been if only the downhill was open today...

Standing atop White Face looking to the tallest mountain used for the Olympics, unfortunately, not accessible to us.

This was my first time on a chair-lift and gondola !!!!

Lake Placid in the distance.

Us in front of Lake Placid in the distance.

Dan had to climb to the top of this mountain.

Highest peak used for the Olympics, you can see the paths cut through the trees.

Map of the 50+ runs down the mountain.

And it wasn't really that cold.

Pam loved the gondula ride, especially down.

Dan checking his phone to make sure we were going the right way.

The gondola ride felt more like a roller coaster.

Tickled my tummy.

Had to see where USA beat Russia in 1980.

Neat to see.

Home of the Miracle on Ice.

Everybody had already left (it was 30 years ago)

Center ice

We saw a lot of these rings around town.
Really great time ~ so busy doing all the cool stuff we didn't get any souvenoirs.
