Sites in New Orleans

Day 18 ~ Walking around the French Quarter and driving one block from our RV site

It was a beautiful sunny day and Dan couldn't relax.  He was on top of the RV checking on stuff and cleaning vents.

If you look close, you can see a bird on the end of antenna
Brittany was sad when I posted the last picture of Snickers, so here is one of him a bit happier:

We went into the French Quarter for a few hours before the Super Bowl game.  Below are some pictures we wanted to share.  The captures help explain.

Jackson Square

Andrew Jackson "THE UNION MUST AND SHALL BE PRESERVED"

Street performer

Enjoying the classic cars

Lunch at The Market Cafe on Decatur Street

The Cathedral-Basilica of St,. Louis King of France

We drove around near our RV park (one block away) and found out that we are so close to the Southern University of New Orleans Park Campus which was completely compromised as a result of the levee breaches caused by Hurricane Katrina and the storm surge later caused by Hurricane Rita. Flood waters grew to as high as 20 feet in the buildings.  The streets are a mess, sink holes, uneven.  Many houses still remain, boarded up and damaged beyond repair.  Crazy to see this six years later.

This last picture brings back fond memories of Pam's childhood RV trips:

What year was that trip to Canada Mom, Dad & Nannette?
Candice just sent me these pictures......now there's some memories!

TOW TRUCK 2003 RV trip to Canada; Long Island, NY for Lacrosse game; visit Kevin at new parish.   Fun was had by all..................or not

.....notice tow truck in front; LOL what a great trip.  Candice called it "An Adventure"
