Post 74 ~ Falling Up Tour ~ Gettysburg PA

Three days in Gettysburg, so much to see.

Look they spelled it right!

The clouds on the mountains make some really neat shadows

mooooooooo

and the way the sun turns the ponds into mirrors . . .

And Mother Nature is so mean in October

Snickers loved this RV park; but where there are horses there is s _ it on the ground...so he got his feet washed with soap and water after every walk!

Cute playground!  A ship and a train

This horse didn't really like Snick; he was marking his turf

Most of the states North and East of PA got a freak snow storm a few days before Halloween, some places were still without power.  The trees still had their leaves and the snow was too heavy for them.

Treats !!!  Snick and I stayed back so Dan didn't loose any fingers

Stables for the RV campers

Cute cottages too

The sunset lit up one lonely cloud
We headed into Gettysburg and did some window shopping.

President Lincoln was everywhere and even was giving people directions....hehehe

And of course had to stop for a yummy apple-carmel sundae
These are some pictures of the town circle and other downtown buildings, thought Britt and Marge would especially enjoy these  :)

The largest Diorama in the country ~ it depicts the 3 days of battle on the 25 square miles around Gettysburg.

A model of Gettysburg.

That guy looks mad

The next bunch of pictures is from our Battlefield Tour.  We made many stops to view memorials, cemeteries, read plaques and climb towers that re-traced the route of the three-day historical battles on July 1, 2, 3rd 1863.

Eternal Light Peace Memorial

We really had a picture perfect day for the drive ~ the skies were so blue and temps cool

Didn't anyone tell this guy not to look down the barrel of a cannon

Little Round Top

The Irish Brigade Memorial that has an Irish Hound lying waiting for it's master to return

See the cannon ball hole in the side of the building

Rev. William Corby memorial depitcs him giving general absolution before battle to the Irish Brigade

The Pennsylvania Memorial was huge

Directions and distances of battles prior to Gettysburg

The Pennsylvania listed all the fallen solids ~ it appeared we had some connections to the civil war

The setting for Lincoln's Gettysburg Address delivered at the cemetery's dedication on November 19, 1863

National Cemetery

He was so friendly ~ I did have a pear though

Some of the prettiest trees were in Gettysburg

The museum did not have power the day we went to visit ~ have to come back another time !!

  1. I can't believe you got snowed on in October!
How long did you stand there looking at the names until you found ones that you knew?
