Day 2 - Wide Open Spaces Tour 2012 ~ St. Louis, MO

St. Louis Missouri ~ Windy Cold and Snow

We didn't bring enough warm clothes for Missouri !  We arrived here and the temps were in mid 40's; set up and had dinner.  By the time Snickers wanted his late evening walk temps were heading below freezing.  We woke this morning to snow on the ground and all the schools in the area closed....sounds like Michigan!

We enjoyed a nice shower (finally) and breakfast in RV.  Headed out to downtown and the very lonely streets.  We didn't know if the streets were so empty due to the weather or were empty streets typical.

Entering the land of Lincoln...

That was one big Cross...

And this is one big Arch...

The sun actually came out to illuminate the Arch as we got closer.

The freeway ran right past "Busch Stadium", surprised Fred & Peggy never mentioned it.

We were hoping that we had left the snow in Michigan, but we woke up to it in St. Louis, MO.

This Post Office was built back when they were solvent.

St. Louis Union Station.

The Arch set in the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial Park

It looks even higher when standing under it.

The Mississippi River

It was too cold to take a riverboat cruise down the Mississippi

Pam was ready to check out the inside of the Arch and get out of the 20 degree wind.

A tribute to the Designer and Builder of the Arch

Pam getting ready for the assent to the TOP.

This guys way too happy

At the top 630' above grade.

The Riverboats still closed looking down from the top of the Arch

The "Old Courthouse"

View of Downtown from the top of the Arch.  We could feel the Arch moving...crazy it was built to move up to 18"

View of Busch Stadium from the top of the Arch.

A hot chick I found at the Top of the Arch.

and she wanted a picture with me...

Dan was amazed by the inner workings of the Tram mechanics, a combination of train/elevator/Ferris wheel technology

An example of one of the tram cars that whisk you to the top of the Arch

And I always thought of Missouri as a warm state.

Snick loves the snow!
