Post 65 ~ Falling Up Tour ~ Maine ~ Final day

Maine was really nice.  Enjoy more of these amazing pictures from "vacationland"

Sunshine view from the front window of RV ~ when I took Snick for his early walk

Have you ever seen a plate from Maine around home?

Engineering Marvels:  Fort Knox State Historic Site (1844); Waldo-Hancock Bridge (1931); and NEW Penobscot Narrows Bridge and Observatory (2006)

Fort Knox view from downtown Bucksport

Narrows Bridge

They call it a cable stay bridge

Pretty cool

The old steel bridge in background that was replaced

You might have to be a civil engineer to appreciate this

Look at this color!  All the colors I've been looking for on ONE tree

Penobscot river

They removed over a million tons of granite to build this bridge

View from the observatory

Bucksport from the tower

Gold compass in granite

That's a semi truck in the middle of the bridge

Looks like the tide is going out and coming back at the same time

Bucksport from the ground under the bridge, cute little town

How did we get this picture?  We were the only ones there.....magic

WOW

We were still the only ones here......cool picture and Dan ran really fast in 10 seconds!!

The following pictures are from in and around Fort Knox
That was built to protect the Penobscot river from the Britts

Cannon turrets

Earthen bermed roofs

Inside the fort

Most of the cannons are long gone
