Beautiful week+ in Southern California
Many of the streets were named after movie stars |
Palm Springs was the area all the old Movie Stars would come to vacation, not so much now. |
Beautiful scenes |
You gotta know its a classy area when they're sellin '57 Chevy trucks in the used car lots |
House on the hill |
We knew we were in a Ritzy area when we saw the Bentley dealer |
I had never seen one of these before, I had to take a double take... |
They have a strange way of washing cars down here |
We've seen a few balloons in CA |
It was a Maserati, sweet. |
Palms Springs does have Palms |
and a lot of fountains... |
Now this BUG looked like a mouse |
Pretty red Azaleas @ this time of year? |
Palm Springs / Desert Hot Springs |
On our way back to Joshua Tree National Park, we passed through a huge Wind farm. |
Back in Joshua Tree.. |
More rock hills |
And more strange rock formations |
It was warmer this time so we hiked through some of these ares.. |
A Joshua tree with no bark/leaves |
A rock climber was trying to make it to the top |
Snickers enjoyed the walks too. |
You could see for miles from here |
That way to the beach.. |
A view of San Jacinta mountain, the highest in southern California |
The center of this picture is the San Andreas Faults |
This was taken from the highest point in Joshua Tree Park, the mountain in the distance is 35 miles away. |
Snickers was wiped out and slept all the way home. |
The wind farm was still working when we passed it on the way back |
Most were triple bladed |
Some were double bladed |
A different meaning for BFF lol |
Sun setting on our campground |
See the moon and bright stars, oh well they are hard to capture in a picture |
Entering Anzo-Borrega Dese |
This desert looked pretty dry |
Though some plants are actually blooming |
More Wide Open Spaces |
Here are RV'ers just pulling off the road and camping in the desert |
Snickers has to stay well hydrated in the desert too |
Kevin, can you find the lizard? |
We left the desert and headed west to a tiny town in the hills known for their Apple Pies |
Julian, CA |
They had a strange way of serving coffee |
This is Mom's, where they sold Apple Pies |
This is Jack's where they sold groceries |
Which way to go? |
They had some interesting stores |
Interesting railings, I don't think they meet building code |
The town did have a two cell jail |
Pretty tight quarters |
though The Warden had a nice truck |
Pam loved the zig-zag roads on the edge of the mountain |
We found a Mountain that was named after Brittany |
Snickers liked the ride too... |
especially when his ears were pinned back |
Another Border Patrol check point, once again alittle too close to border for Pam |
A view of Sultan Sea from the west. |
Sun setting on a beautiful day w/the moon making a smiley face |
Of course we had to try the local fare.. |
and it was Delicious |
Snickers was wiped out. |
