Days 30-31 ~ Wide Open Spaces Tour 2012 ~ Williams/Grand Canyon, AZ

Mesa was sunny and warm ~ Williams not so much  .  .  .

It was hard to leave beautiful Mesa after watching the Super Bowl there and enjoying the pool.  We heading out to the Grand Canyon and a nearly empty RV park in Williams, AZ.  It looks like a cute town when everything is not closed for the winter  :(

We enjoyed the Grand Canyon for the entire day with Snick.

On the road away from Phoenix and the 70 degree temps

They really take pride in their highway system

Maybe next time

Wide Open Spaces ~ with mountains as far as you can see

With views like this we enjoy the travel days as much as we do the destination

We knew we were getting close when we started seeing snow on the mountain tops

Apparently Elk only have two legs in the canyon area

Just passin thru

"dog tired"                     and                   adorable !!

Beautiful back-drop at this campsite

The little town we stayed at while touring the Grand Canyon

Williams was the last town on Route 66 before it was rerouted

That would've been a fun RV park to stay at; but it was closed for the "winter" season

YABBA DABBA - DOO

Oh Freddy...

Looks like a volcano

Remember this bird . . . he will show up again

Movie we saw in Visitors Center

Dan with Snickers

We started out with a few hundred photos and tried to pare it down..

but as you'll see, we had a hard time.

Pam and Snickers

The pictures do not really do justice to the views - ENJOY!

If Pam looks cold, its because she is, it was windy and about 35 degrees

SNOW !!

Pam & Dan & Snickers

He's got the whole world in his hand....

me too !!!

Just unbelievable...

OK, you know...

Had to get a closer look !!!

See the path crazy hikers use?!  I love that cute little tree  :)

After all the signs we finally saw our first Mule Deer (cross right in front of our car)

and then had an attitude

and her to babies

We did see some snow too

This bird would not leave us

and he was huge

Looks like LUNCH to Snick, good thing the window was only halfway down

Colorado River

See how the Colorado River has shaped the Canyon

Hermits Rest was at the last lookout

The fireplace inside of the Hermits Rest

Looks like a postcard...

Perfect picture for background on our phones  :-)

He doesn't want to miss anything, but too tired to sit up and look out the window

Even the mules were dog tired . . .  except they were on vacation until March 1st

Whats the difference between a Mule & Donkey?
